Extraordinary Chair for Extraordinary Guy
Donation protected
Since moving to Rainbow City, AL, I’ve had the privilege of meeting a young man with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), which affects the muscles, leading to progressive weakness over time. Now, as a senior in high school, this young man, is confined to a wheelchair. Despite the physical changes over time, this teenager is one of the most brilliant, tenacious, humorous and lovable young men in our community. He and his family are well-loved and known for being servants to all, never complaining about the difficult path they’ve travelled but always looking for the joy in every experience. Our dear friend is an avid lover of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and independence in nature. While this family has many medical expenses and equipment that they purchase and maintain for daily functionality, it would be my absolute dream to provide them with a lightweight, off-road device from notawheelchair.com. These amazing, accessible bikes are fully electric, super quiet, and can go 12mph with a range of about 30 miles! The quality of life that such a chair would provide to this young man is truly unfathomable. Our goal is to raise the $5,800 necessary to cover purchase, tax & shipping so that this amazing family can have many more adventures ahead. Thank you in advance for praying and considering giving toward this opportunity.
Thanks to Paul Yother for purchasing the device when we started this campaign so we can possibly get it before Christmas. All of the money received will go to him to reimburse him. There was a final donation received prior to turning off donations. That money will be used to add an additional harness on the chair. We will give all remaining money to the young man for maintenance.
