NPS 2018 Tournament of Minds DARWIN

By way of introduction, my names is Tess Assaad and on behalf of parents, friends and families at Northmead Public School (NPS) we’d like to ask for your kind support in helping us raise much needed funds for the ‘Tournament of Minds’ (TOM) Science, Technology, Engineering Maths (STEM) Team.

Some may recall we set up a ‘GoFundMe’ page last year to send our little geniuses to Adelaide after winning the NSW State Finals for Maths & Engineering. We sincerely thank everyone that supported our campaign and in helping us reach our target.  This once in a lifetime experience was something the kids will never forget.  Whilst they didn’t walk away with the win at the Australasian Pacific Finals, the experience and knowledge gained was invaluable………….. so much so they DID IT AGAIN!!!

We are just thrilled to bits to announce the kids at NPS have backed up last year’s win and have just won the NSW State Finals for STEM!!

A team of seven (7) NPS students will be travelling to Darwin on Thursday 11-14th October 2018 to represent NSW at the TOM International Finals for STEM.

TOM is a problem solving programme for teams of students from both primary and secondary years. It is one of the fastest growing international school programmes with the involvement of thousands of participants. TOM aims to enhance the potential of kids by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a competitive environment. For the first time this year, Tournament of Minds will go international, inviting participation by teams from New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Africa, Uganda and United Arab Emirates.

Further Information regarding the TOM can be found on

There were 10 regions from NSW participating in the TOM State Finals at UNSW on Sunday 9th September 2018. We are absolutely thrilled to advise Northmead Public School was placed FIRST in the NSW State Finals and has progressed to the International Finals in Darwin.  The finals will be held at Charles Darwin University from 11-14th October 2018.

The expense related costs including accommodation, airfares, transfers and other ancillaries to send the team of seven (7) students and 2 facilitators is approx. $13K Northmead Public School has been kind enough to assist with a $6K package towards these costs; however we are still short of $7K to send the team and facilitators to Darwin.

Please help us reach our target by donating generously which will enable our kids to once again proudly represent NSW at the 2018 TOM International Finals in Darwin.

Once we reach our target, all proceeds will be transferred to Northmead Public School to cover all expense related costs.

On behalf of the TOM parents, kids and teachers at Northmead Public School we sincerely thank you for supporting this amazing educational program and our kids.

NB: This 'go fund me' page is an independent fundraising initiative by parents of the NPS TOM team and not by Northmead Public School or the NSW Department of Education & Training.
