My Olympic Hopeful Dreams

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Donald Scott. I am from Apopka, FL. My dream to be an olympian started my freshmen year in high school. During this time I competed in multiple events. Hurdles, sprints and jumps. I loved competing and I loved the joy it brought me when winning. My love for triple jump started when a mentor of mine, who was also my coach at the time told me that I can become really good if I stuck with it and gave it my all. During my high school career I was a two-time All-American in the 300 m hurdles and the triple jump. Earned 2009 USA Youth Track and Field All-American status, as well as honorable mention all-state accolades. Was the 2009 USA Youth Track triple jump champion along with being a finalist in the 400 m dash. Was an AAU All-American in both the triple jump and 400 m hurdles and was a USATF All-American in that event. Named honorable mention all-state in the triple jump.

I received a scholarship to Eastern Michigan University to play football because at the time I really loved football and I didn't receive much attention from schools about track. After my freshman season of playing football, I joined the track and field team as a triple and long jumper.  At the end of my freshman season of track, I had accomplished many goals. I won the USA, Jr. Track and Field Championships in Eugene, OR in 2011. That gave me the opportunity to represent the USA in the Jr. Pan Am games in Miami, FL. I ended up placing 4th at the meet. That named me a Jr. All- American.

During my mid senior season of playing football, I decided that I didn't want to pursue a future career in football. I had red shirted a year in track and field which gave me two full track and field seasons left. It was one of the most biggest and smartest decisions I have ever made.

Over the two years I had left for track and field, I gradually got better at my events. In April 2015, I graduated college with a degree in Criminal Justice. In June 2015, I ended my college career by becoming the Indoor/Outdoor triple jump record holder at my school with jumps of 55'3 and 55'2. I have claimed seven MAC Conference titles in the triple jump and two titles in the long jump. I received first team All-Mac titles in both events. I am a 3x NCAA All-American in the triple jump. In the 2014 outdoor season, I placed sixth at nationals. This pass year,  I was the indoor nationals runner up in the triple jump and I placed 3rd at outdoor nationals.

Last summer, I competed at the USA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, OR. I placed 8th at the meet. That is now my ranking in the U. S. as a triple jumper. I am looking forward to moving up the list this season.

Right now I am training, I am now a volunteer coach at EMU and I am also working part time for the USOC (United States Olympic Committee) and their partnership with Dicks Sporting Goods. My days consume of half a day of training and putting in few hours of work. This is where the hours I work affect my income. I can't work that much because I train most of the day and I need time to rest and get full recovery for the next busy day.

This year is a big year for me and I have multiple goals that I am trying to achieve and this is where the money donated would count towards. Travel and Accommodations (hotel, flights, fees for meets, food)

Nutrition (healthy foods and supplements)

Training ( practice and competition attire)

Sports Therapy (massage, chiropractor, etc).

There are 3 major meets that I would like to attend as in steps to going to the 2016 Olympic Games.

USA Indoor Championships (March 2016)

Indoor World Championships (March 2016)

The USA Olympic Trials (July 2016)

As you can see the money will go towards things that I really need in order to have the success that I need. With that being said, I would also like for you to be apart of my journey to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

I also want to thank you for taking the time to read my story. Im thankful my family, friends, fans and the people who support me and those who follow up on me. Your donation would really mean so much to me. Again I want to thank anyone who chooses to donate to help me pursue my Olympic dreams.

Thank you for your support and God Bless.
