My Mom Needs a Liver

My name is Mars and I am trying to raise funds for my mother, Lindsey Morris. As a widow and a parent supporting a college student, she is struggling with an onslaught of medical complications which have taken over her life for the past year.

Due to an autoimmune disease, she has developed cirrhosis, or end-stage liver disease. It has brought with itself many additional obstacles and impromptu hospital visits, and she is in the process of securing her place on a list for a future liver transplant. Before Mayo Clinic will allow her to have her surgery, she needs proof that she can financially support herself and her new liver while in recovery; that means staying in a hotel for a minimum of a month within a 30-minute radius of Mayo, and covering costs of a handful of anti-rejection, antiviral, and antibiotic medications, several of which will be necessary the rest of her life. Some of these medicines can cost over three thousand dollars a bottle. A caregiver is also required to stay with her during her initial healing process of 4-6 weeks, and she needs to cover lodging for them, as well.

Mayo estimates that $5,000 - $10,000 will be required for lodging for family during surgery and for her and her caregiver during the 4-6 weeks of initial healing. They estimate $10,000 - $15,000 in costs for her first year of medication. I am grateful for any help in getting my mom back on her feet and able to live life to the fullest again.
