Hello Everyone :). Danny here. First of all, I would like to thank you all for your generosity. I am humbled by all of the donations and taken back by the support, positive energy and love that I have received over the past five months. It’s hard to put into words how much the original fundraiser helped me stay afloat in every aspect of my life.
I wanted to give a brief update on my progress as I am finally able to do so - As most of you may know, I was diagnosed with GBS (Guillian Barre Syndrome) in early December. I was completely paralyzed from the neck down and lost all of my motor functions and reflexes because of it. After two months of hospitalization, I started intense physical and occupational therapy in a nursing home/rehab center. It has been an extremely challenging process, but after a lot of hard work I have begun to make great strides (especially thanks to my amazing OT and PT specialists). Currently, I am working on gaining my arm and leg strength back. I fight hard every day in hopes of getting back to my normal life soon!
I was discharged yesterday on June 5th after 6 months away from home! Although I have made a lot of progress since I started rehabilitation, there is still a lot of work to do before I can get back on my feet and working. We really hoped the last fundraiser would be enough to carry me through, but I didn’t foresee how long my recovery would take. I am getting to the end of my savings and now that I am finally back home - I will need at-home nursing care and to make some adjustments to my apartment. If you would consider donating to help with my rent and medical bills until I am able to work again I would greatly appreciate it. I am so lucky to be part of such a beautiful community and I don’t take it for granted.
If you wouldn’t mind sharing this, that would be so helpful to me. I can’t wait to be independent again and back walking and working.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Love, Danny :)
