Hello my name is Terra and I have created this gofundme account for my parents and sister. Just after Christmas, on December 28th, my parents and son went outside to play RC cars for a few minutes before supper. In those short 20 minutes a battery managed to start a fire in the basement of their home. They tried desperately to save their dog and 2 cats. Their dog managed to escape when they opened doors etc but unfortunately both their cats tragically died in the fire and it took their home/everything from them. My baby sister's belongings were being stored in her bedroom as well and she lost everything too. My parents are the most selfless people I know. My father, a millwright, is always helping friends, family and neighbors in any way he can by fixing/lending things. My mother, a Disability Support Worker, is always giving to others. Numerous times she has donated, paid for other's groceries or took them shopping when their house burnt down. They always taught me to help others whenever you can, never judge someone because you don't know what they're going through and the importance of community. My parents are so kind, fun, loving and happy and it's killing me to see them so helpless. They do have insurance but are unsure how much/what will be covered. Also, as it was just Christmas they have less financial stability currently. I know it's never a good time to lose everything to a fire but it's extremely bad timing right now. My parents are currently staying in a hotel with a little more than toiletries and 2 changes of clothes. I'm asking everyone, from the bottom of my heart to help in any way they can. I know it's tough for everyone right now, but I also know that many hands make light work. Please, anything you can do would mean the world to them and us. Thank you
