Noyaa: A Project for Education

Donation protected
Noyaa is a school located in James Town, Accra, the capital city of Ghana in West Africa. This school aims to bring education to the children of this less privileged community where they would otherwise be left without any access to learning.

Noyaa is minimally funded by a small company called "Elements" but has recently been at risk of closing due to a potential discontinuation of funding from that company as well as minimal resources available with that funding. The school is currently home to over 70 children who rely on the establishment for food, a supportive enviroment, education, and a place to be during the day. Without funding, these children would be forced back into the community without a stable education to rely on.

Currently, the needs of Noyaa in regard to funding are for a mix of operational funds and rennovations. Generally, rennovations to classrooms and the building are needed to keep up with the growing amount of children attending the school. Finally, Noyaa needs basic operational funds to provide food, books, pencils, erasers, and other school supplies for the children who do not pay fees as they are often orphans or have parents who cannot afford such fees.

The money raised through this page will go directly into the school. Although this is just a base goal, it will help to get Noyaa to a place where it can continue to grow. It is $100 a week to feed all of the children, $50 a month to pay the salary of a teacher, and about $5 to proivde a textbook for a child. In order to fix the roof, Noyaa is hoping to raise as much as possible, and any money that is donated beyond what is needed will be used to rennovate classrooms that are unable to be used due to their conditions.

Madeline, a student from NYU, is currently in Accra working with the school and will be helping to use the funds donated through this page to assist Noyaa in becoming a sustainable place for children in the community to access education.

If you are an individual interested in longer-term funding or if you are part of a business or company that is interested in funding Noyaa beyond this page, please contact Madeline.
