Nowhere Fast Fundraiser.
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Wesley O'Driscoll. I'm a 37-year-old, disabled business owner.
I suffer from a rare disease called Friedreichs Ataxia.
My Shop would have been turning seven this month. Instead, it is with a very heavy heart that I'm announcing the permanent closure of Nowhere Fast. This is a decision I've been going over and over again in my head for months, if not years. Granted, Nowhere Fast was never hugely, or actually even remotely profitable, I always thought we were doing something beneficial for Edmonton, and thus the money, time, effort, and emotions sunk into it were more than justified.
I think I've done a good (or bad, depending on how you see it) job at downplaying the severity of my situation and the seriousness of my disease throughout this endeavor. In hindsight, being more upfront with friends and customers may have been a better approach.
Due to my disability status, I wasn't eligible for any funding or financial support over the Pandemic, none at all. Banks won't even entertain the idea of loans or lines of credit based on that status as well. So as much as I never wanted to resort to crowdfunding as an exit strategy, this really feels like the only option I have left.
The stress and anxiety I have been operating under on a daily basis for a very long time is completely destroying my mental and physical health. In an attempt to not be in insurmountable debt for the rest of my life, I'm asking you to please donate if it's within your means to do so.
I've had a lot of great times throughout this journey, and I'm definitely not saying it was all bad.
Thank you so much for reading, and the support you've shown me over the years.
Respect!
*I've uploaded a more thurough and detailed audio breakdown of all this. Please listen and share if you have the time to.*
