Ria Needs Us Now

Back in May 2025, our incredible friend Ria suffered a life-altering accident while on a trip to Spain. She had a devastating fall that left her with severe injuries, and her family were told to prepare for the worst, that she only had hours to live.

The news shocked everyone. We were heartbroken, fearing we were about to lose such a huge part of our lives. Ria is not only a beloved friend but also a devoted mum to her little boy, Franky, a role she poured her heart and soul into every single day.

After emergency surgery, Ria was placed into a coma because her body couldn't cope with the trauma. But true to who she is, our Ria fought through. Against all odds, she survived.

Then came another devastating blow, doctors told her she would never walk again. She was left paralysed and faced a completely different future.

Ria was flown home to the UK by private air ambulance and spent several weeks in Salford Royal Hospital. She is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Southport, learning how to adapt to everyday life in a wheelchair.

Sadly, Ria’s treatment in the UK has now ended. For her family and all of us who love her, it’s heartbreaking to accept that she may never walk again or care for Franky in the way she so desperately wants to.

But we haven’t given up.

After researching far and wide, we’ve found a promising treatment overseas that offers hope, hope that Ria could regain some independence, quality of life, and maybe even the chance to walk again.

We’ve set up this GoFundMe to help make that treatment possible. It comes at a huge cost, so we’re taking on a challenge to raise funds: we’re walking up Mount Snowdon for Ria, a symbol of the uphill battle she’s facing every day.
