Nova is an 11 month old Great Dane who was surrendered to City of Long Beach Animal Care Services by her owners back in December 2015. They had purchased her from a breeder, cropped her ears, and then abused and neglected this lovely pup.

After visiting the vet, we had confirmed that she had Demodex Mange, which since then, has required weekly visits to the vet to treat the Mange with medicated baths, dips, and biweekly Ivermectin shots. A skin scraping has been performed every month to see the progress of the baths, but after four months, the Mange was still resistant to the treatment. We then suggested switching course to oral Ivermectin (which is more cost-effective), and now, she has been receiving this treatment daily. Nova is well on her way on the road to recovery!
Through our previous fundraiser on GoFundMe, we had raised $3,995 thanks to the love, dedication, and support of Nova's foster mom, Lisa Darcy (@gameofdanes on Instagram), the Instagram community, and our Live Love family.
As Lisa appropriately addresses it, "However, we recognize that we will still have some upcoming costs with her exam and possible treatment of her salivary mass, as well as her spay surgery. On our latest vet visit, we were told they found just one mite in the skin scraping, so we are close to being finished with the medication and associated costs.
With all that being said, the rescue needs one more fundraising push to help cover her costs between now and her eventual adoption."
We appreciate all the help thus far and look forward to sharing Nova's story. Thank you.
