Novak-Slane Family

As many of you know, Lemont suffered a tragedy early Monday morning. One of our long time residents lost their house and everything they own in a fire. There was also a loss of life and the family dog.

Sue (Slane) Novak, who lived at 700 Czacki Street in Lemont (corner of Czacki & Logan). The house was in the family for many years. Louis and Alice (Sniegowski) Novak raised their two sons, Edward and Louis, in that house. Sue's brother, Scott Slane, could not make it out and lost his life in the fire. Sue is the only surviving member of her immediate Slane family. She tried getting Scott out of the fire but couldn't. She escaped only with the night clothes she had on. She lost everything. Scott is Also survived by his daughter Jaymie, and his loving granddaughter Matisyn.  Jason Novak and Amy (Novak) Ceranek are her children that are trying to make ends meet for her. Sue's pet dog also perished in the fire and her pet cat was found alive the following day.

We can help by raising money through this go fund me, as well as our fundraiser next week!

We will be hosting a fundraiser next Wednesday, June 9th to benefit the family. We will be donating 15% of all sales that day to the family and also have a donation basket as well for any cash, checks, or gift cards you would like to additionally donate. I have seen many people commenting on the posts from Ken and others about how they can help and donate, and I know first hand how generous and supportive this town can be. I am really hoping we can raise a lot of money to help this family out.

Almost everyone knows Ken Novak is this town, and how much he helps the community through the Lions Club. He has given so much to Lemont, and now it is our turn to help him and his family out.

I will be putting a donation basket out starting today. Please make checks payable to Tap House Grill, as we will be giving them one check for everything donated. I will have an official flyer made later today.
