On Sunday December 6th, my good friend took her two-and-a-half-year-old son, Novak, to the emergency room at VGH for a fever that would not break. While there, she received the worst news a parent could hear, her son was diagnosed with Leukemia. They were airlifted to BC Childrens hospital in Vancouver instantly and testing began.
Novak, also had to receive many blood and platelet transfusions to restore his blood counts to normal levels. They soon found out he has ALL, the most common childhood leukemia and had a port inserted to start chemo.
The family will be at BC Childrens/Ronald Mcdonald house for the next 6-8 weeks before they will be considered for out-patient chemo treatments.
Mother, Nicole and Father, Nenad, are both Frontline workers in Healthcare and are the very last people that would ask for a helping hand.
In starting this go fund me I am hoping to lessen their financial burden while they are both off work and for future travel expenses to and from Vancouver which will be expected to continue for another 2 years at least. I know this is a hard financial time for many, especially with the holidays approaching. Any amount would be greatly appreciated to help this family put aside any financial worries that may come.
