Nova Project Stevie

First things first. I want to thank you for taking the time to read my story. My name is Jay. I am asking for help from anyone who is able. The help I am asking for is not for myself, but for my brother from another mother who has always been willing to help others any way that he can. Whether a shoulder to cry on, or help fixing a minor or even major issue with their cars, he has always been willing to help people in need.

Now the story started years ago. Steve was in a bicycle accident. His neck was broken in his senior year of high school. This accident was supposed to be it for him. Doctors said he would never walk again. That he would need to be cared for, fed and even moved for the rest of his life. Little did those doctors know, that Steve had nothing but goals, drive and heart that was pushing him harder than any doctor diagnosis could predict. Pushing hard to overcome what they said would be impossible, he fought every day, working on his mobility. Figuring out ways move himself around without assistance. Eventually through perseverance, teaching himself to walk, then even drive despite having no controllable function in his legs. If the story stopped here, it would be a true story of inspiration.. Right? But.. this is just the beginning.

Steve has been, for as long as I can remember.. a gear head, grease monkey or motorized anything enthusiast. As I mentioned earlier, He has been very goal-driven to improve his quality of life so that he can enjoy the simple things most of us take for granted. One of his most important goals is an old Chevy Nova that he's had for 20 years. Building it into a Stick shift drag racing car that he can shift and race. He has spent the last 20 years slowly collecting parts and pieces with the extra pennies he could save. Finally, he had just about everything he needed to finish. The car was finally almost ready to race!

Now.. accident number 2. The Nova was nearly ready! A few things left to button up and bolt together. He and a couple of friends were working on some of the finishing touches in early march. The fuel cell mounted in the car's trunk exploded, severely burning one of the 2 friends  (who was treated and is doing much better) who were helping and nearly burning down the garage. Nobody else was hurt in the blast, but the damage was done. All of the years of work and effort moving towards a nearly realized goal was left blackened by fire then soaked in water.

The Nova he had worked so hard on is now back to needing more major repairs. It is repairable but as you can imagine, this has been a devastating setback for my friend. So I’m asking anyone who can help, if you have a few extra bucks, to donate anything to get this nova on the track. If you can help with anything, it will be going towards the dream of a person who is truly an inspiration to myself and so many others! Thank you again for taking time out of your day to read and thank you in advance to anyone who is able to help.
