Nourishing the Longenbach Family

Hello. My name is Wenda Boyer, a friend of the Longenbach family and former boarder at Molasses Creek Farm. Like you, I have adored this family through the years, watching Matthew and Abby roam the farm, play in the dirt, collect chicken eggs and be the adorable mascot children at MCF. Matthew learned to farm the fields with Scott while Abby learned to ride ponies. Rachel managed a fun horse boarding facility which has created a lot of really good memories.

In early November of 2020, while we were all treading COVID-19 waters, the Longenbach family's world came crashing down. Scott was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. This insidious disease often goes relatively unnoticed because of a lack of early symptoms. Patients can be asymptomatic for months or even years. By the time symptoms become noticeable, colon cancer has often reached the later stages of the disease.

Scott began treatments at Lehigh Valley Health Network - Muhlenberg with a second opinion and radiation at Memorial Sloan Kettering. With Rachel constantly by his side, while raising their two children, Scott endured chemo and radiation treatments that often left him exhausted and depleted. Rachel, who we all know as a kind and gentle soul, has bravely stood by her husband and fought all the battles with him. Scott is now resting comfortably at St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem.

I am representing all of us whose lives have been touched by this family and crave the desire to support them during these difficult times. Through the curse of cancer, our journies are individual ~ fearful, painful, and even joyful when good news joins in. Like so many things in life, we cannot even begin to understand what they have been through, even if we have had a similar experience.

Please join us as we lift Rachel and her family in prayer, love and provide much-needed financial relief. The family will have large amounts of medical bills to endure in the months ahead, as well as simply living life while the family grieves.
