Did you know that over 70% of Ugandan primary school children are studying hungry because the school feeding programme continues to be ignored or neglected by government. This is according to a collaborative research conducted by Uganda Debt Network (UDN), Save the Children International-Uganda (SCIU) and National Children’s Authority (NCA).

Food insecurity among children is rising fast, slowing cognitive and physical development. Nutritious school meals are the world’s most extensive social safety net.

Our Mission

PARC-Uganda is a grassroots non-profit organization founded by Ndungo Samuel to strengthen families with vulnerable children by empowering communities through healthcare, education, and income-generating opportunities. Growing up in poverty and witnessing the challenges many families faced in accessing basic healthcare, Samuel recognized that poor health and limited medical services often prevent children and families from reaching their full potential.

Our Project

As part of our work,PARC-Uganda operates and manages Shine Preparatory School in Kasese, western Uganda serving 260 children and 20 staff annually. Since opening its gates in 2018, Shine Preparatory School provides break porridge and noon meals to all children attending the school.

The school based feeding project means that the children get 2 meals each day they attend chool. This helps improve concentration, creates an incentive to attend, and provides a benefit not only to their educational needs but also to their health. With blended options of charity, orphans are getting free education and their parents motivated to send children to school – since they are sure these children are well cared for.

The donation will be used for the following among other things;-

➔ Buy enough food stuffs (agricultural produces) especially maize and beans which makes bulk of the food commodity, as well as purchase cooking oil, salt, and other basics.

➔ Buy seeds for the school vegetable gardens which doubles to support the school feeding project, while serving as demonstration for children with engaging and fun lessons in a safe learning environment for vegetable production and food security.

PARC-Uganda will hire a cook and will work with parents / school community to mobilise firewood.
