Notebooks for Kids in Need

I wanted to reach out to you today to ask you for help. My sister in law is a senior official at her school board in Mendoza Argentina. The city (like much of the world) is in lockdown and kids are at home with no end date in sight.
Mendoza has a large population of people in poverty, and there are a lot of children that are unable to access their educational program online because they do not have a computer in their homes.
My sister in law reached out to me this week asking if there was anything I could do to help. The schoolboard cannot afford to buy the 500 computers they need in order to provide education to the children. An average computer or laptop in Argentina costs ten time that it costs us here (mainly due to high government import taxes on foreign products).
My sister in law (Marisol) is an inspirational educator in Mendoza Argentina. She has dedicated her life to the children and is on the front lines trying to help the ones that need it most. The poorest children are turning to crime as they cannot obtain education. With this effort, she wants to provide the children with a computer and has gathered a group of teachers willing to volunteer their time to conduct online classes for the kids.
They have secured a donation from the local internet provider that will provide the connectivity at no charge... all that is left is to get computers into the hands of the children so keep them in school.
These computers will go directly to the kids. There are no middle channels. No profit centres. I am personally working with Marisol to ensure the children are the benefactors of the donations.
That is why I am reaching out today… to see if together, as a group, we can gather a pool of funds so that we can source the computers locally here in Canada and ship them to be distributed to the children in need.
We have also obtained a special exemption from the Government of Argentina to allow these computers to go into the country tax free for the next 90 days.
The good news is that I have been able to find a line of low-cost refurbished notebooks that would meet their needs… 100% of anything you donate would be put directly to the fund to buy the notebooks. We are not looking to make even a penny on this – so 100% of the money will go towards buying the notebooks…
Infinite IT is pledging $1,000 to the cause and covering 100% of the shipping costs to go to Argentina. Anything you can donate is appreciated! Please consider donating as much as you or your company can afford to help us get to our goal.
I will provide all of our donors a breakdown of the costs once the donation is complete. The more money we raise, the more children we can help. I have set a soft goal of $10,000, but if we raise more than the goal, we will send more computers to kids in need.
