cancer chemo and covid knocked me down

Hello, my name is James. I am 67 years old and I live alone in Florida. In September 2022, my life changed forever - I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. Since my diagnosis, I’ve had a colostomy surgery and it’s been a real whirlwind which has led me to this platform to get support from my community. 

I went back to work in Jan 2023 post surgery, and soon after started my chemotherapy treatments up until I got covid. Getting sick with covid knocked me down to the point I had to pause my chemo treatments and check into a nursing home while I recovered as I was not able to manage being so sick living on my own. My nursing home experience was not great and while there I developed a severe UTI infection which has taken a huge toll on my health. 

I was just recently discharged from my nursing home as my insurance would no longer cover the nursing home costs and I could not afford the daily fee to stay. I am back home now and doing my best to manage day to day tasks but my body is still very much trying to heal and recover while I’m also back on chemo treatments. 

I work as a delivery guy and have been unable to work for over a month now due to being unable to walk from being so severely sick. While I’m working hard to get back on my feet, I am still unsure how soon I’ll be in a place where I can physically manage going back to work everyday.
