My name is Alexandra Chalifoux, and I serve as the Vice Chair of Thunder Bay Community Pasture.

In partnership with the Oliver Agricultural Society (Murillo Fairgrounds) and the Hymers Agricultural Society, we have come together to establish a coordinated emergency response for animals affected by the ongoing wildfires across Northwestern Ontario.

While not every community is currently under an evacuation order, many are facing rapidly changing conditions. We know that when evacuation orders come, they often happen with little warning. Families should never have to choose between their own safety and the safety of their animals. By preparing now, we can ensure that emergency shelter, transportation, and essential care are already in place when they are needed most.

Our mission is to support, protect, and strengthen the agricultural communities of Northwestern Ontario during this crisis. Together, our organizations are working to provide emergency refuge and coordinated assistance for livestock, horses, companion animals, and other farm animals displaced by wildfire evacuations.

Donations to this fundraiser will help provide:

-Emergency transportation and services for animals during evacuations.

-Feed, hay, bedding, and clean water.

-Temporary shelter and boarding at emergency refuge facilities.

-Veterinary care and medical supplies.

-Biosecurity and animal welfare resources.

-Essential equipment and supplies needed to safely receive and care for evacuated animals.

-Financial assistance for families facing unexpected animal care expenses during an evacuation.

Every dollar raised will be used to support the emergency care of evacuated animals and assist the facilities and volunteers working tirelessly to provide them with safe, temporary refuge. As livestock needs are met, additional funds may be directed toward helping affected families cover essential animal care costs while they are displaced.
