Give The Gift of Health - Makana Urgent Care, North Shore

North Shore Give is committed to expanding medical services at Makana North Shore Urgent Care, the only urgent care facility on the North Shore of Kaua'i (and there are no hospitals in the area).

Thanks to our generous donors and proceeds from the annual North Shore Give Charity Auction & Gala (held in February 2025), we have reached the fundraising goal for this year!

This year, we're raising funds to purchase an ultrasound machine for Makana North Shore Urgent Care, a critical tool that will enhance diagnostic capabilities and improve overall healthcare access. The ultrasound allows for essential screenings like monitoring pregnancies, assessing heart health, and detecting organ issues early.

All donations above the ultrasound purchase and shipping will be rolled over for the next piece of essential equipment that we'll acquire for Makana North Shore Urgent Care, ensuring that we continue to expand the clinic's medical services for our remote area.

About North Shore Give: a nonprofit 501(c)3 community foundation created in 2012, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life on Kauaʻi’s remote North Shore, home to over 3,500 households and nearly 11,000 residents. This beautiful area spans 155 square miles, accessible by a single road with 9 bridges—8 of which are one-lane. During peak tourism, the population swells by up to 7,000%, creating a significant strain on local resources.

Limited infrastructure creates daily challenges for accessing basic services and becomes even more critical during emergencies. North Shore Give is focusing on the following community initiatives: expand medical services, train residents in disaster preparedness and emergency response, and improve access to education.
