RAD IS GOING TO NORTHERN MANITOBA

Here we are. Our biggest intake yet. Rescue all Dogs is heading back to Manitoba.

RAD and Manitoba Animal Alliance are teaming up and will be making our way to communities in Norther Manitoba to help with dogs needing homes.

10 RAD volunteers are heading up at the end of April in sprinter vans in order to assist with the capturing of stray dogs, removing them from problematic areas, as well as assisting the community with rehoming dogs who need to be surrendered. We are planning on flying out emergency cases that need urgent medical care. Our goal is to bring back as many as we can and help relieve a small amount of the overpopulation that they are having to deal with. Manitoba Animal Alliance has been doing incredible work in the communities over the years which includes their spay and neuter clinics but with the pandemic, it’s been extremely difficult to continue their efforts.

It was a hard winter with temperatures sometimes dropping below - 40c. Hundreds of dogs were forced to fend for themselves with little food or water and many of them weren’t able to survive, many often freezing to death. We are trying to help however we can. Life in the great white north can be pretty brutal. The average lifespan of these dogs is 1.7 years. The lack of veterinary care and shelter in remote areas makes it extremely hard for the injured, forgotten, and unwanted dogs. Unfortunately, culling is often the method used to take care of overpopulation.

Spay and Neuter clinics are held regularly in the community to control the dog population however, 90% of them were canceled in 2020 due to a shortage of vets (yet another consequence of COVID) causing the overpopulation of dogs to multiply yet again. The closest veterinarian to the Northern community is an 8-hour drive with limited road access during winter.

We need to do our part for these Indigenous communities at the 53rd parallel. And so, we will be driving over 35 hours there to assist.

Fam, we need your help. The amount of dogs we can bring back depends on funding. Ideally, we would LOVE to fill the vans with doggos in need. Our reality though is that medical care, supplies, and transport are not cheap. If you can find it in your hearts to donate, ANY amount helps.

This is big, FAM. Every little moment that you can spend helping us spread the message would help tremendously. Let's do this!!
