My name is Crawford Mitchell, and I am a middle school science teacher at Kamaile Academy on Oʻahu. I am originally from Massachusetts but I have lived and worked on the North Shore of Oʻahu for the past three years and am an active member of the community through my school and local relationships.

This fundraiser is being organized by me, Crawford Mitchell, and the funds will be received and managed directly by me.

I am raising funds to support families in the Waialua and North Shore community who have been impacted by the recent Kona Low storm and severe flooding. Many of the families affected are people I know personally through my role as a teacher, as well as through community connections. These include students’ families and local residents who have lost homes, belongings, or access to basic necessities.

On March 20th, the North Shore of Oʻahu was hit by a second round of heavy rains from the Kona Low storm. Because the ground was already saturated, the rainfall quickly caused severe flooding. Families were forced to evacuate in the middle of the night, and many have lost homes, vehicles, and personal belongings. The Waialua area in particular has experienced major damage, and many families remain displaced.

How the funds will be used

All funds raised will be received and distributed directly by me, Crawford Mitchell, to support affected families.

Funds will be used in the following specific ways:

Purchasing essential supplies such as food, drinking water, hygiene products, and household necessities from stores like Costco

Purchasing gas and providing transportation support for families who have lost access to vehicles or need to travel for shelter or work

Providing direct financial assistance in the form of cash or gift cards to families for urgent needs such as temporary housing, basic living expenses, and recovery costs

I will personally deliver supplies to families or coordinate direct hand-offs within the community. When providing financial assistance, I will give funds directly to families I am connected to through my school or local network.

I will prioritize families who have been displaced or have lost access to basic needs. I will also share updates so donors can clearly see how funds are being used.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting families affected by this disaster.
