Craig is my family friend from growing up in South Carolina, and I’m visiting him and his roommate on the North Shore during my spring break from Alaska. What was supposed to be a relaxing trip turned into a nightmare when a sudden flood hit our area. We were about to leave for an early morning flight, but after a quick nap, we woke up to chaos outside. Someone was screaming to save the cats that were trapped, and when we opened the door, water was already up to the porch. We had to act fast, grabbing what we could and swimming out to safety, leaving almost everything behind. Heartbreakingly, Craig's cat, Squeak, is still missing after the flood.
Now, Craig and his roommate are left with nothing. Their home is unlivable, and their landlord hasn’t offered any help. They have nowhere to stay and are struggling to figure out their next steps. The funds raised here will go directly toward helping them find a safe place to live and replacing the essentials they lost in the flood.
