I have undertaken the planning of our 30th reunion for NPHS's Class of 1987.
To keep our event local to area, I booked a large banquet room at Maggiano's Little Italy in Bridgewater for our party Saturday night October 7, 2017 from 7-11pm. Please mark your calendars, as we're hoping for a large turnout!
One of the things that occurred to me as I began planning this reunion is that, having graduated from a public high school, we do not have an alumni fund the way a private school or university would have for such events.
I am asking anyone and everyone to contribute whatever they can to build up a treasury chest for our Class of '87 Alumni Fund.
I want to be clear this endeavor is not for profit whatsoever. The fund will be used to:
1. Lower ticket costs for the reunion event
2. Add amenities to the reunion event such as decorations, a photographer and T-shirts
3. Pay for a morning-after alumni breakfast
4. Create a scholarship for NPHS that we can present on behalf of The Class of 1987
The amount of money raised (minus the 8.5% fee from total donations) will be factored into whether the above goals are feasible.
My ultimate goal is to have enough money left over so that the next round of reunion planning doesn't have to be completely out of pocket from the outset like all previous reunions have had to be.
I want to make clear that contributing to this reunion fund is a non tax-deductible alumni donation; it is not buying a ticket to the reunion event. A separate email will be going out in March about ticket purchasing.
Every little bit helps, no matter how small. You don't have to be an '87 class member to contribute - friends, spouses, family members, community leaders, other generous souls also can make our day by sending along a few dollars.
Go Canucks, and look forward seeing everyone in person on October 7!
With gratitude,
Laura Hockridge
