North High Girls Varsity Soccer Valley Rings

Hello! We are the North High girls Varsity soccer team for the 2022 school year. We are from Bakersfield, California, and we won the Valley Championship title for the first time in our school's long history. We were considered underdogs the whole season and worked hard for this win, always keeping in mind our motto, “Heart and Hustle”.

We went from being a team with many losses over the last few seasons. We had to deal with coach changes and inevitable team member changes. In addition, we had to deal with the craziness of COVID and all that came with that. Our school closed like many other schools, and we had to move online. Our season for one year was cut short, and many of us lost one of our favorite parts of the school year- playing on our team. However, even when we lost or had to be out on distance learning, we always cared about each other and the sport. We never gave up our “heart and hustle”.

We came back together on campus this year and had a new coach. One that was passionate but had never coached soccer before and knew very little about the sport in general. But, he learned about coaching and motivating students, and we could tell he cared right from the start. He brought with him the “heart and Hustle” that we needed. He said our goal was to get at least one win for our season. We did far more than getting just that one win, though. We had a solid defensive team that led to multiple tying games that would end in a penalty kick. It can be hard to focus and win in those pressure-filled moments at the end of a game when you are tired and hopeful, but we came through every time and did what we needed to do to earn that win. We never forgot our heart and hustle in those moments.

We appreciate all our coach, school, family, friends, and fans have done for us and how much support we have felt. We could not have gotten to this championship win without everyone behind us. We now humbly ask that those who are able to come together to support us just a little further through donations towards team rings. We are hoping to buy a championship ring for each team member to commemorate this momentous achievement. There are 21 of us on the team, including our coach. The rings are $380 each. We come from a community that has many needs, and this amount of money is out of reach for our players to afford on their own. We would love to be able to have the ring as a symbol and reminder of all that we have accomplished and how much “heart and hustle” can bring.
