Norseman Xtreme 2024 - after getting hit by a car!

Hey Team!

My name's Frankie and I've currently got a place at Norseman Xtreme Triathlon this August. It'll be my first long distance ironman and I’m trying to promote not only women in sport but women in triathlon, extreme sports and how to make the unobtainable achievable.

I started up my non-profit in 2016 Pretty Strong where I've raised money for Mind Charity in the UK, as well as Samaritans of Singapore. I then qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2018, then Endurance Coach in 2022 - coaching athletes not only for their fitness goals but with a real focus on mental health and support.

2024 is a big year for me in terms of the London and Sydney Marathons but now the "A-Race" being Norseman.

But my current struggle is the financial side - the stress of which is now impacting my training.

I got hit by a car in 2020, had a start up through a global pandemic, and got parasites in my eye at a triathlon event last year which almost caused me to lose my sight - so the financial strain of medical bills and rehabilitation has been up there. Norsman is an unsupported event so I'll be taking my own support crew and will have to cover costs from flights, hotels, car hire, specific equipment for the weather conditions etc.

There's nothing more that I want to do this year than to just be able to fully commit and promote my training and achieve what most people are doubting - me being physically able to not only complete Norseman, but to come home with a black t-shirt (only the top 160 of the athletes at the event achieve this). Women are underrepresented in the sport of triathlon as a whole, but even more so in extreme triathlon. The percentage of women just applying to Norseman is only 8%.
