On May 20, 2015, my oldest sister Norma Bravo-Lemler, while waiting to make a left hand turn was impacted directly on the driver’s door by a teenager driving an F250 s 3 ton truck. The impact was so strong that my sister’s car was dragged off the street and into a dirt field. My sister was unconscious and pinned in her car. It took fireman and emergency personnel over an hour to extricate my sister using the Jaws of Life.
My sister is an amazing woman, she is a daughter, sister, wife, and friend and most importantly she is an amazing mother to her three children. Norma is a recent graduate of UCR who put herself through college while caring for a 15 year old, a 12 yr. old, and her youngest who is 6 yrs. old. She was also looking forward to working to help her husband while also continuing to pursue a degree in the medical field. She was also volunteer at her youngest son’s school helping out his kindergarten class.
Norma remained in the ICU for 2 days due to a bruised spleen. She sustained a shattered left leg, which was fractured in two places below her knee. The impact to her leg was so severe that the bones were pushed upward which caused further damage to her knee. Norma also suffered three hip fractures, one of which cannot be repaired with surgery only time. The prognosis, at this moment, is that my sister will either move to a rehab facility or be in bed rest for months to come.
My sister’s family lives only on one income. She will now need 24hr care not only for herself but for her three kids as well. My sister is an amazingly caring woman. She is always available to help those in need and now she needs our help. We kindly ask from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We thank all of you for your continued concern and prayers.
