Norman's Brain Tumor Surgery
Donation protected
Most of you know Norman Godoy, our doorman-turned-handyman here at the Forte.
What you may not know is that a few months ago, Norman started experiencing severe headaches. Every day, they got worse and worse. At the beginning of December 2016, they got so bad that he went to the emergency room. Doctors performed a CT scan, which revealed a 4x4 centimeter tumor in his brain, called a pituitary adenoma.
The good news is that such tumors are typically benign. The bad news is that they still can cause major health issues and thus, Norman's tumor must be removed.
On March 30th, he will be undergoing an operation in which the surgeons will go through his nasal cavity (this involves breaking bones in his face) to excise the tumor. After the surgery, Norman will need to take 4-6 weeks off work to recover. His wife will take one week off to take care of him, but then she has to return to work.
My husband Darran and I have been Forte residents for six years and Norman has been here longer than that. When he told me about the surgery, I asked if he would mind if I reached out to our neighbors. I guessed that many of you, like me, would want to contribute.
Norman has health insurance, but there will still be a lot of medical bills -- as well as other costs -- associated with this surgery. Any donation you can make towards Norman's recovery would be much appreciated by him and his family.
Please give if you can and what you can. The funds will go directly to Norman and his family, to help get them through this difficult time.
