Hello everyone,
My apartment at The Edge (2200 Classen Blvd, Norman OK) caught on fire on Tuesday 2/14/17 around 2:40pm. It started in our utility closet where our AC unit and water heater is located. There was an electrical short in the water heater, which was about 12 years old at the time.
Luckily, we are all safe and no one was injured, including my dog Abir. Although the fire was contained, many of our belongings have been lost to the black smoke and ashes, or the sprinkler system that went off.
This situation was very unexpected, and it has been hard for all of us. We are just students working paycheck to paycheck currently, and have no means to pay for what all we may need to move forward. There are a lot of things we are needing urgently, and many things we will need eventually. We don't have renter's insurance either, so it has been especially unfortunate for us.
If you would like to donate items instead of money, here are a few things we've listed that we could use or have lost:
- dog food (Hils Science Diet for large breeds)
- dog treats
- dog toys: nylabones, tennis balls
- extendable dog gate / child safety gate
- blankets
- kitchen / dish towels
- oven mitts
- body lotion
- razors
- toilet paper
- shaving gel
- feminine products
- lint rollers
- art supplies: pencils, sketchbooks
- wax warmer
- non perishable foods
Donations can be sent to:

Our apartment provided us with appliances, but many places we have been looking to move to do not provide everything. There were also a few electronics and furniture we've lost that we will need to replace eventually. These are just a few 'big' things we will be needing to buy or replace:
- refrigerator
- washer
- dryer
- microwave
- toaster
- coffee maker
- MacBook Pro
- night stand
- tv
- vacuum (designed for pets)
- living room furniture
- dining furniture
- box spring
- desks
- bookcases
Monetary items we may need help covering include security, pet, and utility deposits.
We will try to update as much as we can through this campaign. We would like to thank friends, families, and strangers who have been so generous to all of us in light of this recent emergency. The amount of care and help we've already received has been incredible.
Thank you so much for reading our campaign. I hope you can understand our situation and have the means to help in any way you can.
