UPDATE: As of Saturday, February 12, 2022:
Friends and family. I want to give you a status on Norma today. Since my last response, I've not been able to physically visit with her. I too was sick (not with COVID19) and have not been able to send updates. I do, however, talk on the phone with Norma. Norma's next appointment is to see the doctor for a blood transfusion because her iron-level is extremely low. As for her second surgery (reconstruction), still waiting. I ask for you to keep her in your prayers. As it stands too, she has less than one month to move out of her apartment. She will move in with our mother. Thank you mom for giving us a home when we need you. Norma's biggest worry isn't the re-construction of her breasts, low iron, or her depression, it's the letter she received from her employer. Apparently, the letter states that her position is (was) eliminated. Bad news all together. Very dis-heartening. This is causing my sister to spiral with more worries and depression.
Sis - God is AWESOME. He is perfect and He knows 100% what we need. He is Our Father in Heaven. He is perfect so we must stand firm on our feet. We must have faith in Him! For some reason sis you have to go thru this but you have wonderful friends. I read the posts and I see the gifts and offerings to you. You should live by faith that they love you and see their love. Very soon this too will pass.
Thank you to all Norma's friends and our family that pray for her and offer your gifts. I don't know her friends but thank you for taking care of her.
XOXO - Yo

UPDATE: As of Monday, December 27, 2021
Friends and family. I wanted to give you a 2 1/2 Post-Op week status on Norma. Norma is doing so good. She still has a long way to go. She is walking around and walking slowly and bent-over. She has to walk (at times) with a walker...other than walking slowly, her spirit is high and her faith is strong. She is so bold and bubbly. I'm so very proud of her. If I had a Victory trophy, I would give it to her. She is positive and ready for her next surgery. We keep telling her to slow down and not think too far ahead...to just take one precious day at a time. God is awesome! Thank you God and our sweet blessed mother in Heaven for taking care of my sweet sister. Norma is our Saint Mary Magdeline. Always helping others and never taking care of herself. She has always been inspirational to us. When Norma's not at any event or family function - we are truly sad. We understand right now she can't be at these events/functions...we are blessed to know she is with us and that's all that matters.
Again - thank you to all of Norma's friends, and our family who continue to pray for her (us too), sending cards, financial assistance, her job sending a get-well video, inspirational prayers, and your love...it is truly a beautiful site to see. Every day Norma is getting stronger and she is gaining strength.
I have a knot in my throat just thinking about all the prayers and contributions each of you have given her.
Well, I will keep you updated in a few days.
XOXO - Yolanda (Yo)

UPDATE: As of Sunday, December 12, 2021
Friends and family, I wanted to give you an update on my sister, Norma. Today is a beautiful and blessing day. Today, Norma was released from the hospital. Norma had surgery on Friday, December 10th and came home today. Norma is in lots of pain (normal and to be expected) but is doing well. She is staying with our mother for awhile. I feel so bad for her. I have never seen what I've seen. In staying with her at the hospital, it was difficult for me to see my sister physically. Without me getting into horrible description, please trust that what I saw, no one should ever have to endure. With that said - and avoiding the raw description, Norma is Cancer-free. Norma is a trooper and tough. Thank you God! God, please have mercy on her. She is under med's and trying to stay calm. I told her that each second is a milestone. Each day will get easier. God will show her the way.
I want to thank all of you for your prayers, cards, flowers, gifts, emals, texts, calls, donations...just being there (here) for her. Norma said that when she is able to sit up and feel comfortable, she will be calling/contacting you. I will continue to give you all a status on her and again, many blessings to you all!
XOXO, Yolanda (Yo)

UPDATE: As of November 28, 2021
Friends and family - I am Yolanda Reyna, Norma's middle sister. I am now updating you on Norma.
Last Wednesday, Norma informed us that her doctors advised her to have the double-masectomy. She is devistated, as we are. As it stands, thus far, her surgery will still be on December 10th. We are waiting patiently to find out if it may be moved to another date due to the double-masectomy. We are praying for the date to remain as is. Life changes quickly and we are fortunate that we can spend quality time with each other. We will not question God because HE is perfect. HE knows what is best for her/us. We will allow HIM to do HIS work and we will accept what comes. The doctors know best and have advised her to do this and we have prayed that it will be successful.
Please continue to pray for Norma and if possible, any contributions are much appreciated. It seems as though she is worried about her living expenses and co-pays, and her surgery out-of pocket costs. Thank you so much - XOXO - Yo

Hello, my name is Angelina Velasquez. My grandmother is Norma Jane Perez (Velasquez). During this unfortunate time, I am reaching out to my grandmother's family and closest friends...and mine as well.
First and foremost, my grandmother has been diagnosed with breast cancer (Duc Cell Carcinoma). She will be undergoing a masectomy on December 10th. I am asking for any financial help anybody would be able to provide. As you may know, my grandmother is a private person. She has been going thru a lot of worries and said she did not want anyone to worry about her surgery or financial position. My grandmother is worried about her bills when she really should be focusing on herself back to health. She has a lot of financial burdens to worry about such as her MRI/X-Rays, reconstruction of her breast, prescriptions, rent and her day to day bills. She is struggling which leads to her having anxieties. As anybody would be, her family and I are very worried for my grandmother. Any contributions would be very, very much appreciated!!! A donation of any amount would truly help her. After this surgery, she has to have a second one. I am not sure when this surgery will happen. I will keep you all updated.
Hopefully after she sees how many people are willing to help support her, she will be able to get rest and concentrate on getting well. This cause is very important as it obviously snuck up on us. God works in mysterious ways and I'm praying everything will work out for the best, but we will only be able to do this with your help. If could also share this fundraiser link with your friends and family, that would also mean so much. I need help bring awareness as again, her being private leads to not many people knowing, even family included. December is nearing and I am needing your prayers more so.
Thank you truly to everyone. Even if you are not able to financially help out, I would definitely appreciate your prayers. God Bless!
