Hi, my name is Eric Brown, and I am raising money to cover the expenses of my mom's (Norma Hemric) funeral. We were caught completely off guard by her death as it was very sudden. She had had a cough for three months, but her doctors only treated it with cough medicine; when finally it had progressed to the point after months to being unbearable, they finally did some scans/x-rays. Unfortunately, after the tests, they found that she had progressed lung cancer and a case of pneumonia. Norma entered the hospital in Elkin, NC, on a Wednesday (26JAN), where she remained in the emergency room due to a lack of beds from COVID-19. Norma was placed on a North Carolina state waiting list to receive the care she needed due to a lack of space from COVID-19. My brother and I live out of state, and by the time we were notified and arrived, Norma was in terrible shape and given days to live. My brother moved her to a local hospice to receive the care she was not getting at the hospital in Elkin, NC, with the help of her church and a local social worker. Once this took place, we lost our mom on 3FEB at 1130pm, just eight days from finally being acknowledged she had more than a cough.
My mother never complained, spoke badly about anyone, and was loved by all. She was the salt of the earth and a wonderful woman. She worked up to just three weeks before passing away, even with not feeling well, so at age 74, she cared for those in a local nursing home. She never had much money and lived a simple life, but she lived a life of caring for others.
As she left her husband, who recently also has had a stroke and heart attack, I ask for your support to help cover the expenses of her funeral service. She never asked for anything in her life; please find it in your heart to help relieve her husband's financial burden.
Here is a bit about her.
