Nori's Health Journey (Beating IMHA)
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Diane and I am Nori's grandma. My daughter, Breanna, and her husband, Gavin, are Nori's parents.
This week, Nori was suddenly diagnosed with Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia, or IMHA. IMHA is an autoimmune disease in which Nori's body is attacking its own red blood cells. This leads to very low red blood cell counts (anemia) that require multiple blood transfusions.
The cause of IMHA can be difficult to determine, so Nori is undergoing many blood tests and diagnostics at Cornell Animal Hospital. Nori had her first blood transfusion last night. As animal lovers know, the cost of healthcare for our fur babies is quite costly.
Breanna has been an animal lover since she was quite small. It was no surprise to us that she had convinced Gavin to rescue their first dog shortly after they moved in together. Breanna and Gavin rescued their first fur baby, Remi, in 2021. Remi has retinal dysplasia, which means she is blind. After months of Breanna sending links in our family group text to all of the rescue dogs she loved from afar, Breanna and Gavin decided to expand their family and rescue Nori in February of this year. The initial thought was how great Nori would be for Remi, but the reality has been that they are both extraordinary for each other. So much love exists in their little family unit.
Nori and Remi can often be found sleeping in their parents' bed, going on hikes, jumping in the waves at the beach, and wrestling in the middle of their living room. Breanna and Gavin love their pups endlessly and cannot imagine their lives without sweet Nori.
We hope that you will consider donating to Nori's cause. It is of the upmost importance to Breanna and Gavin that they provide everything they can for Nori. Nori is their baby and she is truly the sweetest and happiest girl. She brings a smile to everyone's face when they meet her.
Our family thanks you for your kindness.
