Noreen’s Cancer Story

Donation protected
Our very dear sister Noreen McKniff (nee McDonagh) is 52 years old and was diagnosed with endometrioid cancer this past October.  For those of you who know her, you know that she is an extraordinary human being.  She is always incredibly positive, cheerful, loving, unbelievably strong and always puts her friends and family before herself.

Noreen underwent surgery on October 14th to remove the cancer, which was successful. But, with further biopsys and testing taken during her surgery, it was determined she had endometrioid cancer on her left ovary, lining of the uterus and one lymph node; all of these were removed during her full hysterectomy surgery.

As a result, and a precaution to eliminate any cancerous cells, she will have to undergo four months of chemotherapy in Palio hospital, Philadelphia; starting November 12th, followed by two months of radiation.

Because of this, she has been unable to work and will likely not be able to return until late summer 2021.

Unfortunately, she has no disability coverage. Some of her medical expenses are not covered and with the everyday necessities of life, money is getting tighter and tighter. We understand how mentally and financially challenging it has been for many people living through the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Due to the serious risk of Covid 19 and how weak Noreen’s immune system will be during chemotherapy & radiation, only her two precious daughters Caitlyn & Moira will be able to be in her presence. No friends or family are allowed.

Noreen was born and raised in a tight knit village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland called Carrickmore. Her childhood friends and close family have supported Noreen emotionally through this difficult time by reminding her of where she comes from, and that Tyrone people don’t feel sorry for themselves, they rise up to the challenge and fight!

Noreen is one of the strongest, most selfless people I have ever known and is always there to give her love and support, or the shirt off her back to anyone that needs it.

It is now time that we send back some of that love and support to Noreen. Anything you can donate will be deeply appreciated. Everything we can do to help and surround her with love is what is most important so she can focus on beating cancer. Please spread the word. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
