Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

We are reaching out in support of Jeff and Megan, devoted parents to their extraordinary daughter, Norah. In October, Norah was air-lifted to Vancouver where she was diagnosed with Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis—a rare and severe neurological condition that has turned their lives upside down. While Norah is receiving exceptional care from her medical team in Vancouver, the challenges facing her and her family extend far beyond the hospital.

Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis is a complex autoimmune condition where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the brain, causing symptoms such as seizures, behavioral changes, cognitive impairments, and disruptions to motor and speech functions. Treatment is often multifaceted, requiring neurological interventions, immunotherapy, and potentially long-term rehabilitative therapies. Adding to the complexity, Norah’s treatment is currently taking place in Vancouver, far from the family’s home in Victoria. This has meant significant logistical and emotional challenges, including extended time away from home, work, and their broader support network.

Norah’s journey is one of resilience, but it’s also one no family should face alone. Jeff and Megan have been unwavering in their efforts to support Norah’s healing, but the road ahead is uncertain. As their friends, we are asking for your help. Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden so Jeff and Megan can fully focus on Norah’s recovery without the added stress of mounting medical bills and associated expenses.
