Noori and His Family's New Life in America

Americans! We need your help. Over the past few weeks the events in Afghanistan have created a terrible situation. Although there is much work to be done, this is the beginning of one of the success stories. Through the work of many great men and women and mostly God's grace, an interpreter of mine, Noorullah Noori that faithfully served the U.S. as an interpreter in Afghanistan has safely been evacuated from Kabul with his family. His wife: Sumya, his 2-year old daughter- Taqwa, and his 8-month old daughter- Zahra are all safe in the U.S. They are currently being processed through the relocation system. They are very grateful for their new lease on life. Needless to say, they came U.S. with the clothes on their back and nothing more. Fortunately, America has always been good with this situation. I needed to see that the American Spirit is strong, and over the past week, "meeting" hundreds of fellow Americans in a vast network of good people trying to help people in need has shown me that the American Spirit is very alive and well.

We've had many people reach out to us to see how they can contribute. After getting more information and a better idea of what lies ahead, this seems to be the best way to help out. If GoFundMe isn't for you, feel free to reach out to me and we'll find a different way if you want to contribute.

There is still much work to do, Noori and his family will need help establishing a new life here in the U.S. As I am currently researching what steps to prioritize such as basic needs (shelter, clothes, food, transportation), administrative needs (visa approval, green card, work eligibility, government assistance), and future sustainability (job, permanent residence, education) I will establish a solid game plan with clear lines of effort. There are many outstanding variables that still need to be answered to get some momentum. One thing that is for sure is that financial help is certainly needed. Although there is a lot of Government assistance and there are several organizations we've applied for assistance, as you can imagine the demand and competition for these resources is high. The goal is set as a goal to allow this family to establish themselves with a residence, basic furnishings, groceries, clothing and rent for 3 months. Should we meet these goals by other means or under the amount received (unlikely) the remaining balance will be donated to 2 charities in the region focused on other Afghan families' relocation efforts. My wife and I are establishing this fund to get the process started. If you have the means, any contribution will help. I will continue to update this page with new information and progress so that you see where your contributions are going. Thank you and God Bless you.
