Abby's Medical Fund

Hello my name is Jennifer Burgess. Our daughter Abigail is a very special 17 year old from northern mi. Abby has had a lot of medical issues throughout her life. She was born 9 weeks early and had to receive a liver and small bowel transplant when she was 14 months old. She did really well till she was about 14 years old when she started having severe bowel issues. After having multiple hospital stays and surgeries she ended up with liver failure and bowel rejection. She was placed on the transplant list and received her multi-vesceral transplant (stomach, small bowel, liver, pancreas and half of a large bowel) on December 20, 2014 at Henry Ford Hosp in Detroit. She did really well for about 3 weeks and then she ended up with multiple infections and in turn severe liver and bowel rejection. She has been in the ICU for 6 weeks with a life and death struggle everyday. She is 5 ft tall and only 65 lbs and very week. She had to have a trach placed because she became so week that she couldn't breathe on her own even after many trials.
     We are trying to raise money so that her dad and I can stay by her bedside and help her through. Her dad has been off of work for 2 years to take care of all her medical needs. Since she had these set backs, I have been off of work to be with her as well. I have used up all my vacation pay. We have a mortgage, car payment and many other bills to pay. We are asking for any help that you can give, so that we can be with her longer. She has been placed back on the transplant list to receive the multi-visceral transplant again.
     She is one tough cookie and a real fighter. Help us help her fight. Thank you and God bless. The Burgess Family.
