Non-Smoker Battling Stage 3B/4 Lung Cancer

Donation protected
My name is Mason Bryant and I am 38 years old, married to the love of my life, Daijha Bryant, and we have 3 Siberian Husky fur babies. On the night of November 13th, 2019 I experienced shortness of breath while laying in bed that sent me to the emergency room. I was expecting a diagnosis of a panic attack, but instead after receiving an X-Ray and CT scan, was told that I likely had lung cancer. Subsequent imaging and specialists confirmed that I have inoperable lung cancer with no history of smoking. I have adenocarcinoma, non small cell lung cancer. Biopsies of the baseball sized mass in my right lung as well as 2 sets of swollen lymph nodes confirmed that this was at least stage 3B. Additional CT scans, MRIs and a nuclear bone scan revealed two places in my skull which appear to be cancerous as well. A craniectomy was performed this week to biopsy one spot and the surrounding bone. We are awaiting results on this, which if positive, would push my diagnosis to stage 4. We have a team of specialists, a lung specialist, neurologist, radiation oncologist, and chemo oncologist who are still working on the treatment plan which is highly dependent on the results of that craniectomy. However, they are a local team and we are interested in receiving a 2nd opinion from one of the National Comprehensive Care Network Institutions  as our research has shown that, specifically for adenocarcinoma, the survival rates are significantly higher than those treated at community-based cancer centers. This presents a new and more hopeful path, but does not come without its own set of issues, namely the monetary cost of this approach. This is going to be an ongoing need with a moving target. It is hard to estimate what the costs associated will be, but up to this point we've encountered the following expenses: 1. Deductibles (Currently $5000, next year will be $2000) 2. In Network Out of Pocket Maximums (Currently $6650, next year will be $4000) 3. Out of Network Deductibles and Out of Pocket Maximums ($13,000 this year, $8,000 next year). These out of network costs have included anesthesia and will likely occur more next year while pursuing the alternate path to treatment. 4. Supplemental/Complementary Treatment Options not Covered by Insurance. I'm sure this list will expand, but acupuncture, massage therapy, alternate eastern medicine, CBD treatment, etc are not covered under our plan. Expenses we anticipate encountering going down this new path: 1. Travel expenses to whichever institute is the best fit 2. Housing expenses 3. Misc expenses away from home We have been asked by many "what can we do to help?" and until now we did not have a specific answer. Asking for donations/funding is not something we have an easy time asking for, but in a situation where the difference is between life and death, we have to put our pride aside and ask for what will make the most difference. Every penny will make a difference in the hope of getting us back to our normal lives.
