Nonno, Ava and Tam need your help
Hello. Thank you for taking the time to read this. My brother (lenny), his daughter (Tam) (30) (this is her instsgram I am.her Aunt) and her daughter (Ava) (2 1/2) traveled to California from New Jersey for our fathers 90th surprise birthday. They arrived last Saturday and Sunday morning (the day of the party) my niece was hospitalized for stomache pain. By Monday she was in ICU with acute pancreatitis and sepsis. Her heart rate was 180 for 5 straight days. High fever and swelling all over her body. Doctors told us they didn't know if she was going to make it.
Here we are at day 12. They moved her out of icu because they were giving her pain meds and antibiotics which could be done in a regular room. She still has a fever, heart rate is now at 100. She is still in tremendous pain. Not able to drink, eat, sit up or move. Lying on her back for the last 12 days. We are waiting on a CT scan today. Tomorrow she will get a feeding tube, but we are not sure she will be able to tolerate it.
So....my brother has been in a hotel, with his granddaughter. Not able to go back to his job or return home.
Juat when you think things couldn't get worse, Ava fractured her Tibia. My 90 year old dad snuck her out for a ride on his scooter and they took a spill.
Any help to pay for hospital bills, hotel, food, and loss in income would be greatly appreciated. Our family has helped as much as possible for hotels and other things (diapers, clothes, toys).
Again, anything at all would be greatly appreciated. And as soon as we are able, we will pay it forward. I thought long and hard if we should start this page, it's difficult for our family to be vulnerable. We thank you all for hearing our story.
