     Hi! My name is Katie Teel, Sinead’s best friend as well as Jody’s “2nd daughter” (even though Sinead is technically the ONLY). I’m writing with special request that I know Sinead nor Jody will make. I’m requesting some financial assistance for the continued care and needs of Jody. 

    Jody received devastating news when she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer with metastatic disease to the bones.  

   Jody was a strong, positive, and influential force in my childhood and teen years, Sinead and I were inseparable! Jody taught me how to make fudge, chauffeured Sinead and I everywhere, helped me navigate my awkward middle school years, wiped my tears, gave me amazing advice, and watched me walk down the aisle at my wedding. She has been a second mom to me and someone I could always count on. Now it is our turn to be there for Jody. If you know Jody, you most likely love her spunky, quick witted, fun loving and faith driven personality like I do. Jody is a fighter.  She has already received radiation treatment and has begun chemotherapy.  During her treatment and beyond, Jody is going to need to concentrate on her health and healing. 

        As many of you know Jody retired several years ago, but basically she took some time off and went back to working a couple times a week and/or as needed at Allen Hospital.      Although she loves her job and the people she works with, she went back to work to meet the needs of living. She is unable to work and therefore, I want to initiate this campaign to help with the financial burden Jody and her family are going to endure. Since her diagnosis in late September she has been unable to work.

        Financial assistance application process has begun but has not yet been approved. In the meantime she/they are paying co-pays, buying necessities needed for care, private duty care givers to assist in Sinead and Con’s absence, food, toiletries etc. I’m sure many of you know and/or can relate that caring for a loved one is a lot of work and near to impossible for one person to do. Not only is Sinead the only child she is also a wife, mom and full-time employee at Allen. These expenses are causing a lot of unnecessary anxiety and worry for the family. Let’s help show Jody and her family our love and support during this very difficult time. 

       If you would like to assist with Jody’s financial burden, any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to the family to assist with expenses for medical treatment and  care that Jody will incur in the future.

       On behalf of Jody and family, I appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support shown over the last few weeks and undoubtedly the months to come.
