Nyomi’s Infant Botulism Story
Nyomi Moore was admitted to Seattle Children’s hospital on April 21st, 2023 for what Jacob and Olivia suspected was Infant Botulism—a severe illness, contracted by airborne spores found in dirt. Infant botulism affects less than 100 babies in all of the US each year. Upon admission, various teams were created to care for Nyomi; Infectious Disease, Neurology, Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric, Orthopedic Surgery, Occupational Therapy and many others. These amazing teams have been seeing her daily during her now eight day stay in the hospital, developing a care plan for the best possible outcome. The teams were able to have the antitoxin, which is made and stored exclusively in California at an incredible cost of $150,000 per dose, necessary for her recovery privately flown to Washington within 24 hours of admittance to Seattle Children’s. Since receiving the treatment, our sweet Nomi has made small but consistent progress at regenerating the cells needed for body movement, intestinal function, and eating and breathing on her own.
A message from Olivia and Jacob:
A thank-you is owed to the generous friends, family, and complete strangers who have freely helped us through this difficult time in our family, whether that be through continuous prayer, encouraging texts and messages, or bringing yummy meals and snacks to the hospital! We have been so moved by the love and generosity we’ve received, and have been astounded by the miracles we’ve witnessed through God answering the hundreds of prayers on Nyomi’s behalf! The hospital staff were absolutely shocked at the intuition we felt that our daughter was suffering from such an obscure infection, and they have been amazed at the way Nyomi has defied the rapid decline that babies usually experience through Infant Botulism. God has been so good to us and we thank Him everyday for the life of our girl!

A few prayer targets:
* That Jacob and Olivia would continue in strength and peace for the duration of the hospital stay and the recovery ahead for Nyomi. Philippians 4:7
* That Nomi would continue to grow strong each day regaining all functions. Jeremiah 29:11-13
* That they would receive medical and financial provision. Philippians 4:19
Thank you for praying and believing for a FULL recovery. There is still a journey with milestones to reach. But GOD! We are keeping our focus on Him. His ways are higher!
From the many questions of how can I help or what do they need, I have created this GoFundMe. If you choose to help ease the financial burden that an extended hospital stay brings, Olivia and Jacob would love to express their thankfulness and appreciation to each one of you in advance. They have felt a sense of community through your support and are forever grateful.
Thank you,
