I have created this Go Fund me account for myself because I have just received a scholarship for a course at NOLS. NOLS is a non-profit organization school that focuses on teaching people how to lead in the Wild. The course I applied for named Wilderness Medicine Search and Rescue will teach me how to become a leader in a emergency situation. For an example, let just say you are walking in the woods or in the desert on your own, and something happens to you. I will be there to search for you and get you out of harms way. If I can save one life with my training in my life that will be the greatest part of taking all this training. I am truly passionate about helping people, and doing it in a style where I am in the front lines risking my life, but also having the knowledge about it is very rewarding for me. The amount of money they rewarded me for the scholarship was $9,000, so I need to raise the rest of that money which is $9,200 before September 15, 2019. It originally cost $18,200, and given the opportunity to go to a course just recently has made me discover my passion. Before I went on my first NOLS course in the summer of July 2019, I was working at a restaurant for the majority of my life after high school. I did not know what I wanted to go to school for or knew what I was passionate about, but I did know I loved talking to people. I was in the Rocky mountains for a whole month for most of July and part of August I had no idea what I was walking into, but I love that feeling of being in uncomfortable situations. I found myself being in the wilderness with 10 people I have never met in my life. We created a bond out there that I have never imagined in my life. Being accountable of each other was a big part of it and leading each other every single day. At the end of the course they grade upon; leadership, Expedition behavior, risk assessment and management, outdoor living skills, travel skills, technical skills, and environmental studies. I got a B+. Besides the grading part I truly tried my best and want to strive more of it, I am hungry for this knowledge. Help me with this, any donation is appreciated.
