Nolker-Gallagher Family Fire Relief

Donation protected
No one wants to ask for help, no matter how badly they need it. Well, my family needs help.

At 11:04pm on Thursday, February 1st I got a phone call from my Aunt. She was screaming on the phone that she needed my mom, I was confused but I knew something was wrong. I ran upstairs screaming and pounding on my mom’s door, and when I asked my aunt where she was all she said was “Katie my house is on fire, I need your mom, my house is on fire!”. The next few hours consisted of my cousins being shuttled to my house, to shower and get some shoes, clothes, and blankets. My aunt and 2 of my cousins didn’t have shoes on when they ran outside. One of my cousins didn’t even have time to grab clothes and was wrapped in only a blanket before she was given clothes from the neighbor.

The fire started due to electrical issues, the fire marshal thinks that the attic was burning for 2 hours prior to the fire. My aunt was in bed reading a book when she smelled the smoke, she went to see where it was coming from, she opened the front door to find a wall of flames on the other side, and immediately started screaming for her 4 children and 1 granddaughter to evacuate the house. Her husband was working in his tow truck but was able to get home very quickly and helped his wife get their dog off the back deck.

We are all very blessed and thankful that everyone was able to get out of the house safely and that no one was hurt, but my family still needs help. My Aunt Misty is between jobs, which has made this nightmare a little scarier. Misty and Danny had 4 of their 5 kids living with them, Teresa (22), Sarah (18), Danielle (17) and Michael (15) in the home, as well as their only granddaughter, Adabella (4). Due to the smoke damage, everyone in the house will need clothes, shoes, furniture and I’m sure things that we haven’t even thought about yet. My Aunt and Uncle have done so much for me, including letting me live with them for my first year of college, I am hoping that this page will help to relieve some of their stress.
