Four months ago, a parent’s worst nightmare charged into Nola’s life and put her daughter Kiana’s life in jeopardy. As any mother would do, Nola dropped everything to be at her daughter’s side in Edmonton.
In a split second, 12-year old Kiana shattered her lower leg subsequently requiring 9 surgeries at the Stollery in Edmonton. Five long days and doctors weren’t sure she would survive. Many more weeks passed before doctors believed Kiana’s leg could be saved. In those weeks Kiana underwent plastic surgery, a leg flap, muscle grafting, and numerous pieces of hardware inserted to stabilize her bone.
Almost four months after that horrific life-changing moment and Kiana still can’t walk and awaits more surgeries in the next month including a bone graft. They are uncertain if Kiana will start Grade 8 with her friends in September
As you can imagine, this ordeal has put a huge strain on Nola’s financial situation. A single mom, Nola took three months off of her job as an educational assistant in Drayton Valley.
Please consider helping Nola and Kiana with further medical expenses and ease the strain and stress that this horrific experience has caused.
