Nola & Billy Support Fund

Hello Everyone,

     Anyone who knows Nola & Bill Garcia know that they are modern day hero’s in their own way.  Given the life challenges they have faced together and the fact that they have made a positive difference in so many people’s lives, it is our honor to present this request for support for them at this time.

Nola was voted Most Likely to Succeed in high school, and we believe she has succeeded in so many ways. She and Billy have inspired all of us by their marriage of 44 years and the way that they have loved and supported each other with joy and confidence in all they have done.  

Following highschool, where Nola was voted Most Likely to Succeed, she was diagnosed with Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 19.  She had so many dreams and ideas of how life would turn out. She did not expect to have over 40 surgeries; she jokes about being bionic. She has total joint replacements in her knees, shoulders, hip, finger and wrist joints, plates in her spine and arms and so much more. Billy jokes that he is replacing her one piece at a time and eventually he will have a new wife! A few weeks ago, on Good Friday, Nola had to have one of her knee replacements revised after it suddenly collapsed (a revision is more painful and intricate than a new replacement).

Billy is currently being treated for cancer for the third time., He is in the middle of an eight week daily treatment of Proton Radiation Therapy.  All of this in the middle of the Corona Virus Pandemic.  As you can imagine, their medical bills and other bills have drained their financial resources, and yet they keep their attitude of gratitude on a daily basis.  

Over the years, Billy and Nola have worked diligently to make a difference in the lives of students locally, nationally and even internationally to make this a better world. Thousands of students and families’ lives have been touched and transformed by the work they have done and continue to do. In fact, some of their former students are on the front lines dealing with finding solutions for COVID-19.

All of us from time to time in our lives need support in different forms: physical, mental, spiritual, financial and social.  Throughout their adult lives Nola & Billy have given to others as they could and now you are being offered an opportunity to give to them as they work hard to overcome the situation they are facing
