Noises Off

Noises Off is a play about putting on a play. This comedic farce shows audiences the inside scoop of what it is truly like to be a performer trying to put on a show, despite any and all chaos that will be hurled at them. And trust us, there will be chaos.
Caroline Mae Woodson and Sam Heller have been awarded the VCUarts Research Grant to co-direct this wonderful, wacky play. Through this production of Noises Off, they are investigating how comedy is used as a coping mechanism in the face of adversity. In other words, when things suck, why do we keep on laughing?
VCU has provided us with some money to answer this question, which will be used to help pay for the rights to Noises Off and begin funding the production. We are asking for your additional help in order to investigate comedy to its fullest extent!
What is this money going towards? We are so glad you asked!
- To the 10 different plates of sardines
- To the bedroom door that won't open, the front door that won't close, and the five other doors on the set
- To the bouquets of flowers that replace apologies
- To the all the bellbottoms of 70s fashion
- To the construction of a set that can flip all the way around
- To the panes of Sugar Glass needed for rehearsals and shows
- To the velvet couch we want our actors to sit their bums on
- To the fire axe that is thrown at a performer's head
- To the constantly misplaced bottle of whiskey
- To the funky wallpaper to be plastered on the walls
- To anything else that comes up when producing a comedy where things are meant to get broken and busted
We are grateful for any and all help you all are able to provide.
We cannot WAIT to see you there:)
We will be performing April 22nd- 24th!
