Hello everyone!
My name is Adrienne (Adie for short) and I am a 27 year old mental health worker in the state of California.
For over ten years I have suffered from severe migraines. In 2016 my family and I decided to seek out medicinal advice from Lehigh Valley Hospital back in my home state of Pennsylvania. I received a an MRI and a week later and MRI with contrast that confirmed a Rathke Cleft Cyst. At the time it wasn’t big enough to take out. I have been monitoring it for the last 4 years with annual MRI’s.
Last July, I suffered what was (in my opinion) one of the worst headaches I had ever had. They increasingly got worse throughout last year. In the beginning of this year I was in the middle of work when a sever migraine hit me. l lost my left preifereal vision, a new symptom, which is dangerous in my line of work. Finally it happened enough times I decided to call my doctor who said an MRI is needed. We found that the cyst in fact grew since 2016. I was then referred to a Stanford Neurosurgeon who specializes in these cases specifically.
November 5th I will be undergoing brain surgery. (It was extremely emotional writing that sentence.) I don’t qualify for FMLA at my job yet because my one year mark is December 9th. I will be out of work recovering for 6 weeks.
I’ve never been the type of person to ask for help because I’m always helping others. Any amount will help. This will go towards transportation, medical bills, rent, and groceries.
Never in my life did I think I’d be faced with a inevitable situation like this.
