Noe's Dad's Heart Surgery
Donation protected
On Saturday, 3/27, Noe and I received the type of news we always hope not to hear. His Dad, was in the hospital, due to having a heart attack. Noe's Dad needed emergency heart surgery to correct major artery blockages that were preventing his heart from functioning. At that time, they inserted 2 stints into his heart. However, they were unable to address the largest artery (his aorta) that is also blocked, due to the poor condition of his heart. Now, he will need a second surgery to place balloons and stints in his aorta.
Unfortunately, the medical care in the public health system in Mexico is quite bad and most people who get care there do not receive good treatment (death for major health conditions is very common). As such, Noe's Dad is being treated by a private hospital that requires all out-of-pocket, in advance, funding for care. Noe's family (or any middle-class Mexican family) does not have the resources to be able to cover the high medical costs that a heart procedure, let alone two heart procedures and medicine, requires. Noe's Dad's first surgery cost $8,000 USD and his second surgery is expected to cost another $7,000.00 USD.
While we can't be there in person to help for long periods of time as we would like, Noe and I want to do everything in our power to help his Dad receive the treatment that he needs to live a long and happy life. We are attempting to fund the cost of his surgery on our own. We never like to ask for help, as we feel very blessed with the careers and life that God has given us. However, the funding of these surgeries is taxing on our finances. Our neighbors (who are like family to us) did some fundraising on our behalf, without us even asking, and raised some money to help. This was SO appreciated and reminded us that we should humble ourselves and reach out to others when we could use help.
Our goal is to raise up to an additional $10,000 to support the financial requirements of both Noe's Dad's surgeries and the ongoing medicines he needs for his heart. We would greatly appreciate any donations if you feel led to contribute.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Noe & Holly Gomez
