My name is Noemi Valdez and I am currently a San Fernando High School senior. I have been raised by a single mom from the age of 12. I was born in Mexicali, Mexico, where most of my family is from and came to this country at the age of 9. I have been accepted to Harvard and have currently accepted my offer of admission. My mom and sister would love to visit the campus to see where I will be for the next four years of my life, but unfortunately, one roundtrip plane ticket costs my mom a month's worth of salary.
