Recovery fund for Noel "the crazy Irishman" HynesOn November 30th my father fell 25 feet from a roof while working. He sustained many injuries including; 9 broken ribs, broken shoulder blade and completely severed muscles in left arm. He was very close to losing his arm. A broken jaw, smashed teeth, cracked knee cap, bleeding in his brain, and a broken sternum which was pressing into his lungs and causing fluid to build up. The Doctors had to insert a tube into his lungs to drain up to a liter a day of fluid. We have to be extra vigilant in not catching Covid and passing the virus onto him. One positive thing to come out all of this, is he had to have a metal plate implanted in his chin, as it was completely destroyed. Now he finally has the Burt Reynolds Chin he's always dreamed of!
Noel has worked and supported himself as a laborer, handyman, and painter since emigrating to America from Ireland in 1989. He worked as a postman previously, but found his true calling. He loves his work and is always proud to point out a house he has worked on. He is still confused since the accident, asking doctors when is the soonest he can return to work. His doctors told him his recovery will take at least 6 months.
My father was released early from the hospital because of covid and is now staying with us. We were completely unprepared to take care of him. I had to take time off from work to be his caretaker, which I continue to be, while now balancing work at the same time.
Noel is an incredibly generous person, he would never ask for help, he would be embarrassed if he knew I was making this fund. He is the kind of person to give you his last $20.
As Noel will not be able to work and support himself, this fund is to help pay for things during his recovery ,including: a bed, bedding, comfortable clothing, healthy food for a liquid diet
(as he cant chew any solid food), a LOT of food and litter for fat boy Jake (Noel's cat), he eats a lot! Transportation costs to numerous drs appointments. The medication medical doesn't cover,(its adding up), bills, and hopefully after he is well enough, and Covid crap is over, help towards a ticket back home to Ireland, to see his family (he missed his mothers funeral in February).I know this year has been hard on everyone, if you cant afford to donate, could i ask for you to share this page and send Noel you
r well wishes, I know he would appreciate them. Thank you for taking the time to read about my papa.
