Griffin Varsity Football Fund

Last year, The Noble Academy, an inner-city Chicago charter school, established a Junior Varsity football team after dozens upon dozens of requests from students. They wanted a team and they wanted to play; they saw high school football as a rite of passage of sorts. For those of you who grew up in the suburbs, or watched any high school-themed movie ever, you know how deeply ingrained football is in a school's identity. Because our school was only in its second year of existence, we were operating on start-up funds and were able to procure only the bare necessities: helmets, shoulder pads, and jerseys.
At the start of last year's summer camp, only 6 of our 30 players had ever played organized football before. The rest grew up throwing the pigskin around in the alley. This was not exactly the formula for success, but after a really rigorous summer training camp and a season of daily practices, the team found that success stemmed from their dedication to the sport and to their teammates. The JV team was so inspiring last year that the conference upgraded The Noble Academy Griffins to the Varsity level for this upcoming season!
Our network just rolled out the game schedule, and everything has become very real -- too real, perhaps. With only a year of experience and still no senior players (we'll be headed into our third year), we'll be rolling with the big dogs -- an honor and a challenge.
Please consider helping our team, and feel free to come watch them play and practice. We take to GoFundMe to ask for your support in helping our team grow. The truth is that we need equipment: sleds, tackling dummies, chutes, down pads, chin straps, gurdles, etc. Anything that you can contribute would go a really long way to creating a foundation for a tradition of great football at our school. Our school has its sights set on a championship. As the motto went last year: The Dynasty Starts Now.
