Noah's Top Surgery

 

Hello! I'm Noah, a 20-year-old disabled transgender man living in North Carolina, and this fundraiser is to help me pay for top surgery. Right now, I'm working full time hours at my part time seasonal job, have applied to one surgery grant (with plans to apply to another one early 2021), and have a consultation scheduled January 4th 2021 with my top surgeon (Dr. Scott Mosser out of San Francisco).

 

I'm also working on building my credit so that I have the option to take out a CareCredit loan if I need to, but that is something I'm hoping to avoid by fundraising, saving funds myself, and hopefully receiving a grant due to the fact that I do not have job security right now and am unsure if I will have job security in the future. (So, I don't wanna be stuck with a loan I can't pay back if I can avoid that.)

 

While I'm going to a surgeon who operates under the informed consent model, I do have a therapist letter recommending top surgery as part of my transition because most, if not all, of my dysphoria stems from my chest. Beyond that, binding is causing me a lot of health problems as I'm not able to go without binding and I work long hours at a job that is very physically demanding.

 

Besides wanting a better quality of life physically, I would like top surgery so that I can comfortably enjoy the activities I used to when I was younger - biking, swimming, baseball - and so I can wear the clothes I want without worrying about whether my chest is visible or not.

 

I don't have financial support from my family when it comes to pursuing anything transition related and I don't foresee that changing in the near future. For surgery, a friend will be flying out and staying with me to help that first week, so while I do not have familial support I will be able to get support from my friends.
